Blinking center LED

Hey all, I have a question.

I tried to flash my drive and I type in the commands "mtkflash ix12.bin" which is the file name that I named the hacked firmware that I got from the ixtreme v1.2 rev c. I need to know if I made just a DVD player out of my xbox or not. It runs movies without a problem but doesn't run a xbox game whatsoever and it's really irritating me. I flashed it and it just keeps blinking endlessly.

Did I screw my console up?

Thanks in advance.

My Drive is a MS28 also, if that can clarify anything.

I have my original key for the drive also. That is not missing.

at this point you need to get back orig.try this.

Restoring your original firmware
If you ever wanted to restore your original firmware for what reasons, then all you would need to do to
restore your original firmware is use the directions for upgrading firmware, so you are able to flash
your original firmware to the Xbox360 DVD drive.
Few things you need to keep in mind:
- Be sure after you’ve created the boot disk with Xtreme Boot Makeror iprep, to transfer your original
firmware you have backed up earlier, to your boot disk. Make a folder in Backups /[7-digit
serial]/[5-digit serial]/ on the bootdisk you have just made, and copy over your orig.bin.
- You can’t use xRead or xFlash to restore original firmware. When you are ready to flash and
you have disabled FirmGuard, in this case you have to use the command :
MTKFlash w /m /sata Backups/[7-digit serial]/[5-digit serial]/orig.bin

I typed in the command just as you listed it there, and it goes through the banks no problem and says ok and tells me to reboot my PC.( I'm using the 10 second method). The light never stops flashing. just keeps flashing and flashing and flashing. do you know what the problem could be from here by chance?

I tried to load a game after the xbox started up this time and it still does the "please insert this disc into an xbox 360 console"

You said something about disabling the FirmGuard, I never had to do that before to replace the firmware with the hacked firmware..
Is it different now that I have to put the original back on or something? If so, can I get the directions on how to disable the FirmGuard please? This is very frustrating :-/

I've also been using Iprep to make the disc bootable, but using the mtkflash command

Are you using a VIA chipset to flash? If so you don't have to worry about disabling Firmguard, that's what the 10 second trick is doing for you.

Have you checked your orig.bin in Firmware Toolbox to see if it has a valid key?

I am using the VIA chipset to flash. I have checked the key, and I believe it is correct. I emailed it to myself way back in the day and I saved it in my email if something like this were to happen.

I extracted the files from the ixtreme 1.2 rev c and got two folders that are named, fast and quiet. I used make ixtreme firmware from the fast folder and it came up with the key:

Key read from orig.bin on 10-9-2007
Drive Version: ms28
Key: C81381A1789BBAEA029F96F02848A0D7

This is the same key that was generated when I FIRST installed the firmware from factory back in January.

This is the log file from January:
Key read from Backups\1234567\12345\Orig.bin on 5-3-2007
Drive Version: ms28
Key: C81381A1789BBAEA029F96F02848A0D7

ix12.bin has the same code as the ones above. That is created from using the "make ixtreme firmware" along with the log file with what type of drive and the key.

They are the same exact codes. I am not sure what the problem is.

Here is what it looks like:

I've looked just about everwhere. Some people have simliar problems and some people have far from similar. I would hope that I am not the only one that has come across this situation. I have all my stuff backed up from the original.bin file

I just ran it with the iPrep and whatnot. it keeps doing this, like it should:

I get into DOS and then type mtkflash w /m /sata orig.bin
>The drives come up, I cut the power off to the 360
> I then select XTREME Pri Master
> It then reads: Port do00, Master/Slave: a0
>Flash Type: "SST (SST395F020)" or "SST (SST39SF020) I am not sure on my writing, I wrote it quick because I am getting angry.
> Updating.....Bank1 Ok!
> Updating.....Bank2 Ok!
> Updating.....Bank3 Ok!
> Updating.....Finished! DataSum 11ca, OPCSum 0
Please reboot your PC!!

There anything that isn't going right in that script?

You mention doing your dump in January but the log indicates it was from March...

This is the log file from January:
Key read from Backups\1234567\12345\Orig.bin on 5-3-2007

Have you flashed any other 360s and if so is there any chance that you have the wrong orig.bin? Because honestly, everything you're doing and all your screens look right, it just looks like your key is not for that system.

actually.... i think i don't have my key.. i think that one is from the previous xbox that got banned... the one from march and after trying to flash the xbox with 1.2c i lost the orig key without making a ripped copy of the key... i hope that is not the likely scenario....

ACE3FF939767CF55C7F428AB4ABDDAB4 this is the key for the current xbox i believe... i replaced the key from the ixtreme1.0 version with my key from the drive.... so i should just be able to replace the key with one of the orig.bins that I have made from idump, correct?

Yeah you can do it that way, then run the "make firmware.cmd" file using the correct orig.bin and then flash the new hacked fw to the drive.
