right, ive just soldered pin 9 to pin 15 with a wire, and it now works a treat. Pin 3 still has no voltage but i have had no problems so far, was about to flash but girlfriend is watching a film so have to wait :(

Stevie Boy - what do you mean when you say you have had no problems? How can you tell if you haven't tested it with the TV? What version is your xbox? and kick your girlfriend off the TV!! *sortove just kidding* Team Xecuter, bring us an early christmas present by saving us countless hours on this and please lend some advice.

well i got sky+ so i got her to pause it so i could see the flash screen. anyway, shes finished now, im now flashed with the 1959 thingy.

i don't know about anyone else, but I haven't ever been able to get any sort of reading from pin 9 until i linked it to pin 15. Perhaps this is why on the pcb rebuild they are linked????

everything seems rosy, gotta figure out how to put a dash on now

I am having trouble understanding why I have wasted so much %@#$*&$ time on this mod when some simple instructions would have allowed me to avoid the BS of the last week+.

I have a v1.6. I followed the Xecuter instructions http://www.teamxecuter.com/x3/tutorials/x3pin16.htm with robotic precision and yet my box no worky. I followed the advice of the many wise people who say "check your soldering". This I did ad nauseum to no avail!

So I asked myself why does the PCB rebuild connect PIN 9 to PIN 15 while the wire rebuild does not... I posed this very question to this thread and then decided to make it happen. What was the outcome you ask?

It bloody works now.

I'll second this, just did the same thing on my board and I'm laughing now - "I am having trouble understanding why I have wasted so much %@#$*&$ time on this mod when some simple instructions would have allowed me to avoid the BS of the last week+." The x3 instructions require ammendment. Yahooooooooooooo!

prevent red rings from coming back

i got red rings the other day and i fixed it. i have a samsung ms28 model with the L shaped gpu heatsink. i took out the xclamps and applied arctic silver to the gpu/cpu chips then used bolts/washers to make my own heatsink holders.

the 360 is currently working again.

i just want to know if theres anything i can do to prevent the red rings from coming back thats worth it. like something i can do that doesnt cost so much i'd be better off leaving my 360 as is.

Re: prevent red rings from coming back

your quality of your x-clamp replacement is 95% of the chances of the red-rings coming back

if you did a good job, it will last for a while
if not, it won't

however, you can do a little solder work and do a 12v fan mod
this has helped me in a couple boxes prolonging the life

Re: prevent red rings from coming back

im a little nervous cuz in my haste i over tightened 2 of the bolts in the gpu x clamp replacement...
the first two combinations of washers/arctic silver/bolt tightening didnt work right and i kept gettin two red rings. So i got a little pissed off and on my 3rd try i over tightened two of the bolts in my gpu heatsink. But my box worked after that time so oh well.

im not gonna be playin my box as much as i used to though so that should help.
