Hey All,

This is my first attempt at modding a box. I would have gladly paid someone but everyone was on holidays.

I have a 1.6b xbox. When I completed the install I could go to the BIOS upgrade screens by pressing some of the buttons on my pro switch. I could boot to the M$ dashboard, but I could not boot the X3.

The BIOS screen said 3.0.3. I told the supplyer I had a unit made after Sept 2004.

Was I supposed to boot up with the on on off off then install the 3.0.3 BIOS again? Is there something that was supposed to be loaded on the HDD?

Because now I have ripped everything out and nothing works at all. And I'm right pissed off.

So, you installed the X3 and booted to the FlashBIOS screen? That’s what you’re telling us? And then you go in and rip it all out, a perfectly working install?

......um.........the bios upgrade screen was the X3 booting......it didn't have a bios to run, so you have to flash it.......that's a big uh-oh!

So, you just burned a trace somewhere on your mobo because you didn't think the flashbios screen was the X3 booting on the first time......Sorry man....

I removed the X3 from the V1.6b xbox and installed it in my friends v1.3 xbox and it works perfectly.

It has flashbios v3.01 installed, strange cos I ordered it for the V1.6b xbox.

I going to order another chip for my own xbox after a few words with the supplier.

Incidently my friend is delighted, an ill wind eh,

Why not just use your friends box to flash 3.0.3 on the backup bios. Then install it in your box. Also I dont see why the supplier is at fault. If you would have come here and did a little bit of research then you wouldnt be where your at today.

My friend would cry like a baby if I told him I was taking back the chip, I proberly will use his Xbox to flash the 3.0.3 if the new chip doesn't have it.

As for the supplier, I HAD ORDERED A CHIP FOR AN XBOX V1.6b, if your selling the chips you should actually know something about them!!!!

Hi XCronus,

Thanks for the reply.

I was hoping that with my symptoms you may be able to point me in the right direction to fix it.

Although I still havent't removed the pin header, here goes.

When I hook up the xbox without DVD Rom and HDD, and power it on, I get... Green light, power off, green light, power off, red & green lights flashing.

Might I add that the tone of the forums and the suppliers is don't ask untill you research. I did my research but there is no mention of the flashing part. I asked the supplier a question and nothing but attitude. We are all newbies at some point or another. :) I still don't understand what is meant by BIOS. Is it a file on the HDD that is used to boot with? It would be nice for the chip to come with the BIOS then or at least have a link to download it.

Important Question. PLEASE REPLY!

SORRY FOR THE LONG POST, PLEASE READ ALL OF IT BECAUSE IM TRYING TO GET MY QUESTION ACROSS.okay, so i gave my xbox 360 samsung ms25 drive to a friends friend that i dont really know. My friend told me he's smart when he comes to flashing 360's and any computer stuff, and he said he does it all the time. so he is flashing mine for 25$ and he has my xbox now and im getting it back Thursday. My question is, i don't know how smart this guy is at this stuff, and i don't know if he knows about the LT+ and ixtreme, actually, i don't understand it that's why i let him do it. I'm trying to figure out what the worst thing is that could happen. He told my friend that if he does it i won't be able to play the back ups online, and i have read with some stealth patching you can. I plan on playing my back ups online and i don't want to get banned. When flashing what do you have to put on? is ixtreme and LT+ mandatory or optional? Will i need both of these to play online?THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP.

Re: Important Question. PLEASE REPLY!

Each dvd drive has their own independent firmware. LT+ has been released for Liteon and BenQ drives, but for samsungs, there is just plain old LT. Samsungs did not require any extra code since the last update, because it seems to be safe.. that why it's just LT.

So LT 1.0 for samsung, you should be safe for online.

What's the worst that could happen? Realistically, you could be banned. There are no garuntees or promises when you flash your 360 drive... we are told it's safe and undetectable, but we all thought 1.61 was safe a year ago and we were all banned then....it always will be a risk.

Okay, I appreciate the reply, I'm just hoping this guy knows what he's doing and puts LT 1.0 on there

and hope he doesn't use the xbox 360 to power the drive while doing so.... you'll have to patch the security sector & DMI only as the sammys don't use a p 2.5 checks.....

Re: Important Question. PLEASE REPLY!

There will be no accurate way to check beside do it your self but i recommend asking the guy some questions like.
What kind of DVD drive do i have? (Samsung, Hitachi, BenQ, Lite-On)
Which firmware did you flash my drive with?(Make sure it matches with the one on top right of this forum)
Lastly, Can i have my dvd Key? (A file which he should give you, which you must not ever lose)
