Blue X then M$. Problem?

Ok, new to this, so bear with me. Have tried a search and no luck.

x2.6 chip installed using the pcb rebuild solder method on a 1.6 box.

When I boot it up with the chip off, everything is fine just like before.

But, when I boot it with the chip on I get a big blue X screen with www.xbox-mod.co.uk in the top left, then it carries on into the normal Microsoft dashboard. It does this on both banks. I never get the pale blue FlashBIOS screen with options on it like I've seen in the guides.

Anyone know what the solution is. I have checked my solders with a multimeter and the seem fine.

ok will it play your backup it may allready be flashed with bios
if you can install dash get program flashx2 then install 5035 bios into flashx2 bios folder then FTP it to your apps folder on xbox then flash bios with that

Your chip is working fine. Sounds like it came flashed from the store with a hacked bios. What does it have on the other bank? You may want to flash it with X2 5035 just to be sure you are using the latest bios, but other than that you are all set.

Why do people do the silly m$ crap?

Ok, thanks guys, I haven't tried a backup in it yet. Will do so tomorrow with fingers crossed!

ps. I just use the "m$" notation thru old habits of working in IT and having to reference them a lot. That, and the fact they are LOADED. Personally, I always liked "Microshaft".

Well, simultaneous thanks to the two replies above and to the place I bought the chip from. It does indeed appear to have arrived with a new bios on it and plays my backups straight from the box. Hurrah.

Oh, and just one more thing (said with a Columbo squinty eye), how will I know what bios it has installed? Is there a startup sequence I should do or something to find out?

EvolutionX can idenfiy some bios. The best way would be to flash with 5035. Then you know for sure.

or go to http://www.aideluxe.com download, burn, pop in, go to "tools" and click on "Bios Checker". Oh yeah, that simple. If your "euro bio" is workin, it should boot the disc, lol, then from there you can press "start" and reboot, and install the dash of your choice, apps, emus, tools, the whole nine.

Note to the Admins: I know I'm comin out of nowhere reppin the HQ hardcore, but before I became devoted HQ, I used Slayers, found AID and had a heart attack. If it gets to you guys, lemmie know. I'm definitely not here to boil blood between TeamX and HQ.
