If you get the dirty disk error, don't use a DVD lens cleaning kit unless you already have one because chances are that it won't work.

Sure smoking pot might get you tweaked, but I do not know what that has to do with your disk read error problem

Yea tweaking the potentionometer can't hurt at this point, just be careful not to over adjust it and kill the laser.

A potentionometer? sounds like a meter that measure potential, I would'nt score vary high on that one. I have my thompson from the first launch councils, its been 4 years and its still running like my grandma, but it does ok.

a potentiometer aka a pot is a variable resistor (used everywhere, mostly stuff like volume knobs)
