Hi ALL :)

I'd like to see a additional option like FlashBIOS via Network, but it would be used for first time of an ISO compressed or uncompressed.

Why? Some 1.6 have trouble reading CDs, this would remove this problem all together, no more headache.

What do you think? Possible?

My 2p worth!

?

i think he means playing games over a samba mount or something (same principle xbmc uses with streaming from smb mounts)

donno if that's possible though

I see...I thought he wanted a new option in the FlashBios itself...I was up real late last night.

I like the sound of this. But don't forget one of the main reasons that DVD-boot is useful is when ppl fsck up their HD, and they need a bootdisk to re-make their HD. If you disable it, it has potential to mess up ppls xboxes.

I guess one way around it would be to have DVD boot enable when a certain combination of Xbox buttons are held down on boot. Just in case.

EDIT: I don't actually own an X3, and I just realised that maybe the X3 has a menu system to allow ppl to FTP directly anyway? If so, then ignore me, I'm just a lame ol' X2Pro user ;) (Altho I will be upgrading to X3 if the VGA bios feature works well).

Smoking crack when you posted this? Put down the pipe because this has nothing to do with the original post! The author is definately talking about streaming a game through a samba mount. The reason this is not going to happen (it is technically possible) is because the Xbox cannot multitask and once a .xbe is launched you will lose your connection back to the samba mount. Hope that helps.

I dont know whether this is the right place for this question but can smb or nfs support be included in a version of the X3 bios. This would get around the above problem as you could set up a mapped drive in bios and then you would only have one xbe running when you launch a game. This would get around getting banned on Xbox Live for upgrading a hard disk.

thats not entirely true, bear in mind the chip has no processing power of its own, so all the netowking protocols need to be carried out by the box, this would mean patching the game xbe on the fly.

doable, but unlikly to happen.
