When i turn my xbox on it will stay of for less than a second and flash green/yellow. Then it will power off and power back on for about 2-4 seconds while flashing green/yellow. On the third boot it will boot normally while flashing between red/green. I get no video at all. If anyone knows how to fix this please let me know. I also have a video of this. If anyone is interested i can send through email.

Your Xbox is FRAGing. See my sig for a definition. If you want any help at all you will have to provide a lot more info. Xbox version, chip, type of install, etc. Any info you can think of give us and we can help.

It looks like you have a 1.2 from the picture. The link to determine the version is in my sig. Did you flash a bios or anything to this, or has it been FRAGing since you installed it?

Well i had some over heating issues. It was working fine. I took the main heatsink off and added thermal paste. Worked fine. powered off the unit. took the case apart. Tried to take off the little heat sink which i couldnt get off. I didnt bother with it. Plugged the hd / cd rom back in then it started fragging. Before i took everything apart this unit worked great. I did start to frag before (many months ago) but it stopped. This time it wont stop. My roommate about 7 months ago was pushing the wires up on the front panel i have and it worked after that. i tried to push the wires up on that front panel to make sure the connection was fine, and that didnt work.

So the chip/Xbox were working and now they don't right? If so, check the soldering. You should also check to make sure the wires are properly plugged into the chip. If those two a good, get a multimeter and check the soldering with that and you may as well check the switches while you are at it.

i did take the motherboard out and saw that a wire was loose. It was a grey wire i believe. is there a special place i should solder this wire?

Grey is the D0 wire, that's what tells the Xbox to boot from the LPC bus and not the onboard bios. If that connection was bad, you would never be able to boot from the chip.

Orange and red usually means an A/V problem. Are you using the original Microsoft cables? I would also look around the video encoder for solder splashes or broken traces.

ok i had no idea that the video cable needed to be plugged in. Now it boots 2 times w/ green and shuts off then on the 3rd time it flashes orange/red.

Luckily I posted this before I saw that you PMed me...

Hmm... Orange and red flashing? Consider yourself lucky I guess. Saw this on xbox-scene.com. Here is the thread
You've got a better chance of hitting the lottery then having this code but it happens during mod attempts check pin 5 on your lpc port for a broken trace if you find one fix it by bridging the break with a wire. You will notice small circular traces where a 30 AWG wire can be inserted find the nearest one towards the beginning of the trace and the end and put a wire and (bridge) them.

On my board its labeled C7R3. there are 2 of them. one to the left and one to the right. which one? or if u can provide or know of a picture where i exactally put this wire.
