Booting to dash instead of game

When I have a game in the DVD tray and start the xbox with mod on, I'm forwarded to the game. This is the expected functionality but is there a way with the game in the DVD tray to bypass the game and go directly to the dashboard? It would be nice if I could press a button (similar to pressing white to get to X3 screen during boot) so that if I forget to take the game out, I still have the ability to enter my dashboard.

what dash you using? in mst dashes you can set auto-sstart games to disabled by editing the ini or settings file. Some can even do it in screen under settings.

No I'm sure he means he wants to stop the bios booting d:\default.xbe... this can't be prevented by a dash(as a dah wouldn't have booted)... there is no way to do this at present but there is a (long) list of people wanting this to be added in the feature request forumn... If you want to be able to do it now then get yourself the 4981 bios and use XBTool to delete the D:\default.xbe

yea but lets say you screwed with your dash and now it wont boot to yur dashbaord??? Well then your screwed on that unless, you do that thing with xbtool but instead, change the default.xbe to something like dash.xbe or dashboard.xbe.

well then you can boot to X3CL or you can boot to D:\

we will probably add this feature to next X3 update

I'm not sure what the functionality of d:\default.xbe is. Is that the file that starts your game when the game is in the tray?

I guess my main complaint is that, I'm playing Halo 2 online and leave the game in when I'm done. Then when I start my xbox to start xbmc and I forget to take the game out, I'm forced to take the game out of the tray and restart the box.

As a workaround, I thought this would work. You accidently boot to game. Do an in game reset and press white button during flubber which would take you to the X3 screen.

But it didn't work.

No, my point is this. Sometimes you forget that a game is in the tray, you turn on your box and sit down in your couch expecting the dashboard to come up. Instead the game comes up and you need to get up, eject the game, find the game case to put the game in, then restart. I’m just trying to find an easy way to restart to the dashboard with the game in without having to constantly remember to take the game in and out depending if you want to play the game or use the dashboard.

just push the eject button to power on like i said.....im in the same boat as you man...i play h2 and leave it in....last night i just pushed the eject to power on and left the tray ejected the whole entire time while playing some emu's and stuff....other then that like xecuter said might be added in the next bios.....

by the way can that not be changed in other bios's with just xbtool?
