Having successfully softmodded two original xboxes, I picked up a third for the basement.
Using SplinterCell/USBInstaller I attempted to use XBMC as the frontend (like the other machines).
I backed up the eeprom and did the MS backup. The install wouldn't start, so I uninstalled the softmod.
I then tried to reinstall the softmod and get the same error:
XBMC Fatal Error:
special://masterprofile/guisettings.xml, Line 0
Failed to Open
IP Address: 192.168.0.2
Starting FTP Server ...
FTP server running on Port 21, login: xbox/xbox
Now, my internal network runs on 192.168.40.x, so .0.2 isn't valid in my world.
If I reboot, I get the same message. Now, however, if I restart Splinter Cell and try to load the saved game to uninstall the hack the disk just restarts (like a soft reboot) and never gives me the softmod screen (with options to uninstall, etc.).
Should I try to set up a laptop on a switch and give the laptop 192.168.0.5 (and turn off wifi, etc.) and see if I can connect? Does that even sound reasonable before I start moving hardware around?
Any thoughts on how screwed I am?
Appreciate the help.
Andrew
