I just received this from a customer who said he picked up the xbox for next to nothing on Kijiji...you can see why.



There seems to be 3 lifted pads, just about every resistor removed, 2 broken traces, and the one copper trace leading to the HANA chip completely removed.

I've done a few trace repairs as well as adding removed resistor's but does this even seem doable?

edit: There is still a tiny bit of exposed copper on the lifted trace that should allow for a connection to be made but it's almost directly under the HANA. (You won't be able to see it because of the angle of the picture but it is their.

Provided this is all that's wrong with it, yes.

GPU and CPU had stock thermal compound and original heat sink standoffs/screws. I'm hoping that because this was an RGH attempt, if you can even call it that, the unit was working fine before. This will definitely be a good test of my soldering abilities.

This reminds me of some of Teajunkies pictures of botched MRA attempts he has on his website.

edit: If I'm unable to get a connection on the lifted trace with only the slightest exposed copper is there an alt point coming out from another side of the Hana? I know the answer is most likely no but it would make the repair a hell of a lot easier if possible.

I dont believe there is an alt point, might need to lift HANA chip, if thats the case

Haha, thought so. I'm perfectly comfortable with reballs I was just hoping to save myself a wee bit of time.

if you can see ANY of the trace, then thin enough wire and flux should sort you. Remember that heat transfers nicely down a well tinned wire.
