Hey guys, I have not yet bought an xbox 360, but I hope to very soon. When I do get it, I want to get it modded. However, I was hoping that someone (or many of you) could help me with a few questions I have.

1. If I go to Walmart and buy a brand new 360, is it likely that I will get one with an unflashable drive? Or is it a small chance? Do those types of drives ship in bunches or is it more sporatic?

2. Would I be better off buying an older, slightly used xbox off of amazon and upgrading the ventilation?

3. Also, how long does it generally take someone to figure out how to flash a new drive like the Benq?

4. Lastly, if i did get one with an unflashable drive, Could I return it to Walmart and buy another one off the shelf until i got a flashable drive? Or would they not let me do it more than a couple times?

I understand that there is no way to know for sure on some of these questions, but I figure that your guesses would be better than mine.

Thanks for any help.

1/ it depends on how new it is, maybe tell them "I heard the newer version of 360 will broke easily, can you please give me the console with older manufacturing date?"

2/ if you can find one in good condition, why not?

3/ dude, how anybody spost to know that?

4/ I believe its 30 days warranty, but I doubt they'll let you return it more than twice, take the answer 1 then do that with several other places.

Thanks.

That is a good idea about asking for the oldest ones.

I guess there is no way to know until I try it... I just wish there was an easier way.

buy the xbox from gamestop or best buy. gamestop provides a year warranty and you could renew the warranty everytime switch your 360. if you happen to buy a non-flashable 360 then just go back and switch it. i recomend buying it of gamestop.

get one that was made before august 2006 and you have a 95% chance of getting a flashable drive. (the date of manufacture can be fount under the little flap on the top of the box)
