Hi all

I'm just about to begin a brand new install (for my cousin) using Xapter, 2.6CE on an xbox version 1.4 and just have a few questions to ask:

1. Using the Xapter (NOT v1.6), I think that I do NOT have to worry about what version is my xbox. The Xapter should cover all v 1.0 - 1.5 right?
2. Because the xbox is version 1.4, there is NO soldering or PCB rebuild required right?
3. I've never gone to xbox live before so I was wondering:
a. Do I have to make a backup of the original information on the original HDD before installing a new, bigger HDD? I heard somewhere on the Internet that I need these original information so I can transfer them onto the new HDD. This is required because my cousin would like to go to xbox live again once the box is modded.
b. I have AutoInstaller Deluxe v2.0 on a DVD disk and I noticed that there's a program called ConfigMagic which can be used to obtain the information on the HDD. I'm going to use this program to obtain the original information. Is this the right method?
c. How should I go about restoring the orginal information onto the new HDD?

Please note that my cousin has been on xbox live before so I'll have to make sure that I know what I have to do before purchasing the hardware. Thanks in advance for your replies.

Regards

1. Yes, the xapter will work fine.
2. The only soldering would be if you wanted the HDD and LAN lights to work.
3. For LIVE you will need the Microsoft dashboard. It is also a good idea to backup the original harddrive, that way your game saves will be on the new drive.
AutoInstaller should be able to rebuild the new hard drive to it's stock configuration.

Since LIVE is important, make sure your cousin buys a lockable hard drive, and make sure you lock it after installing it or your cousin won't be able to go on live. Lockable drives list
