...then turns on and shuts down after 2 seconds, then turns on but turns off after 1 second, then it only beeps and doesn't turn on.

It seems as though the CPU is overheating or something along those lines, symptoms like that. Have you guys seen anything similar? Soldering is perfect because just 2 weeks ago I was playing games to test the system and it was perfect. I'm at a loss on this one.

Another thing is that the fan is kind of "loping"...like an old V8 with a big cam ;)

The power brick turns green for 5 seconds, then back to orange (off), then on again and right away back off.

Just trying to explain the situation as clear as possible. Thanks guys!

This is a long shot, but I've had PSU's (Power Brick) do some strange things to me.

Try unplugging your power cable, coming from the wall, but leave the brick attached to your console. Then press the power button to get all the leftover juice drawn from the PSU. (You should notice the little amber light will die out as soon as you hit the power button.)

After all that, plug it back in and see what that does for you.

I'll give that a shot right now, thanks.

Nope, same thing. None of my wires are by coils or anything. Hmmm

Gah! Sorry, man.

Out of curiosity, how do you have the console plugged in? Is it in a surge protector?

I also wanted to mention that my house in NY has certain grounding problems that effect TV's and such. Good ol' late 1800's wiring.

Did you try it in multiple rooms?

Last question! Did you change any wiring before it starting doing this? New HDD or something of the sorts?

Tried different rooms and all, same thing. I did just plug in a brand new, unformatted intel SSD. The xbox was running, opened a demo game (off of the 4gb MU) and it started to load, then just powered off. Problems since then, which is now about 1.5hrs ago.

Hmmm, I read something about playing games off of the internal 4GB MU and it causing problems. Did you load the game from Freestyle Dash or Xex Menu that was pre-installed on your 4GB MU?

Have you tried disconnecting the new SSD? I know how annoying it is to re-open the console, but maybe taking a step backwards might be helpful. ;)

The console glitches fine, its just this shutting down issue. So the ECC, NAND image, DashLaunch are all ok.

I resoldered both STBY_Clk and the R15 (yellow, blue, burnt orange) and that seemed to fix it! I'll put the box back together and test further.
