i searched around the forums but could not find my exact situation. I have a liteon 8v2 that a customer brought to me he told me that his friend tried to flash it but it got messed up and now the drive wont respond i have it with me now and its not responding whatsoever but i dont have the key and powercycle/intro doesnt work it just keeps giving me 0x80 status i have the tray opened half way too. is there any way to recover the key if its been bricked and the intro/power cycle isnt working?

Have you tried to MRA it.
May have touched a point on the board when using probe 3 and killed the MT.
If you MRA it you may still have a chance to get the key!

You will be able to retrieve the key from the MB assuming the MRA method that TJ mentioned doesn't work.
Reset glitch is prob your only saving grace now.. good thing its right around the corner. Good luck either way.
yeah i told him the only solutions he told me what happened was he was on a pre 13146 dash and he rented dead island from redbox and it made him do the update and it kept failing and finally it went through but his drive was not recognized anymore and he had someone else try to look at it but it wasnt responding either. i told him its either a bad flash or its erased with no firmware on it and the guy who previously flashed it a year ago moved away and changed his number so he cant get in contact with him so he's sol and is just going to sell it off and buy another box because he doesnt want to wait for rgh
