Broken Xbox to JTAG?

I still have my original Xbox purchased when it launched. It's currently in Red Ring status and if it does start up and play games, they will freeze like 15 minutes into it. I tried the heat sink cleaning thing and it worked for a bit longer but ended up Red Ring'ing again.

So should I bother JTAG'ing this thing or will it still Red Ring on me? I'm pretty sure the DVD-ROM (Samsung) is fine. I just don't want to chuck it in the trash if it can be fixed.

Anything can be used one way or another.
Try different heatsinks with it, maybe even uprate them to something totaly differetn, P4 or AMD maybe?

I would then give the JTag a try, whats the worse that can happen, if you kill it trying it was only going to go in the bin anyways lol.

If you do kill it though, use the board for parts. The Caps, Heatsinks and ports will all be usable im sure.

Good point. I'm going to wait until the Nand-X is released and buy that along with the Xecuter RROD Repair Kit and just do everything at once. Hopefully that will resurrect the machine again.

I forgot to ask tho', the DVD fw is already hacked with LT 1.x. I forget the version because I haven't used this xbox in like 2-3yrs.

right the NAND-X is a tool that just reads your NAND via USB
its faster than using LPT and works great

highly recommended if you are going to JTAG boxes

Cool... so where do you rec. I purchase it? It comes with everything I need to JTAG right or is there other stuff I need to buy? Can you list for me a shopping list? Also, will I have to worry about if my Xbox is "JTaggable?"
