burning a game then stops and fails at 50%

hello i am having problems burning a game it gets to 50 % then says my dvd writer has failed cany any 1 help please ?

It might be your burner...what kind is it? My HP DL burner still works great for CDs and DVDs but it was 0-for-2 burning 360 games, both failed at 50% like you said. I bought a Pioneer 111D and haven't had a single bad burn since.

Sounds like its having problems when it changes the layer. Are you sure its a dual-layer burner.

If your getting a new one the Pioneer DVR-112D is one of the best burners for 360 games.

its a pioneer 111d and i have re installed a new clone cd and still no joy

rip 10 dual layer discs :(

2 different games my friend has same drive and same clone cd and his works i take it my writer is goosed ??

i just emailed the guy a bought it off.

first time i burned the wrong file the small 1 not the iso. then i burned the bigger edited i could try a back up

You should be burning the small file (the .dvd file), not the .iso, that's what sets the layerbreak. Or are you manually setting that in CloneCD before burning?

well i have burned it a few times useing the small file and the big file so it must be the drive a think ??
it says wen it gets 2 50 %

writing to pioneer dvd-rw dvr 111d failed !!!!

the writer just seems to be writing the first layer then stops at 50%

the guy who i got it from says mabe the firmware is wrong but i was hoping sum 1 on here would know ?

try setting the layer break manually in imgburn

tools > settings > write > and then set the layer break manually to 1913760

mi8ky stop trying to burn that downloaded game and do a cbackup of an original you own. Dont you know that sort of thing isnt aloud on here, besides there could be something wrong with the iso, mightnt show up till you try and burn it.

I would like to hear some useful feedbacks on this problem. I've backed up succesfully about 15 games so far. 2 days ago, I tried to back up some new games using the same burner (Sony) with Clonecd but it gave me an error message. The media im using is Memorex +R DL 2.4x. I burnt 4 games with this media before and they work fine. Its not working so i went to get a new burner the LG lightscribe one. Burnt it with CloneCD. it burnt but when I put the disc into my 360, the 360 doesnt recognize the game. WHY? I still tried a lot more discs to see what the problem is. I even tried to burn different backups including the one I already burnt before. Theres still no luck. Also used imgburn, dvd decrypter. The 360 still doesnt recognize the discs. I've tried about 13 discs now and getting really frustrated. THIS IS SO RIDICULOUS. It's worse that I can't even find an answer. The only thing that I've not tried right now is using another type of media. BUt i am just wondering, i used the same media before and it worked. Why doesnt it work now. ANY suggestions? If someone could help, I would greatly appreaciate.

i sent the drive back and the guy sent me a new 1 i also didnt have enough free hdd space so my problem was sorted

new problem !!!!

EDIT - DO NOT ASK ABOUT COPYING A BACKUP!!!
