This is prob a stupid question. But if I burn a game to a DVD+R disc off of my modded box, will that game/disc work on my un-modded box?

If so, what's the best apps out there for accomplishing this.

Thanks.

OK..sorry I should have been a bit more informative. What are the technical reasons why this doesn't work? Or is there a way to burn my retail copies of my games and use them on my un-modded box. If this isn't possible then please explain in detail.

Thanks again.

Well, I'm no genius when it comes to the Xecuter 3 Chip, but I do know that the chip just simply allows you to run homebrew and other programs when enabled. You just cannot play backups or copied discs through an un-modded XBOX.

I'll ask again...What are the TECHNICAL reasons why this doesn't work? If this isn't possible then please explain in DETAIL.

I would think that there's more information available then a simple yes or no answer. I'm looking for the why and why nots.

Thank you.

microsoft does not want you to run bootleg, pirated, backups, copies on their xbox. When you use an unmodded box the ms bios checks if the cd is a licenced original (one tha ms made money from) or it wont read it. A modded box uses a hacked bios to bypass this. This isnt as technical as you probably want, maybe you can call ms tech support and ask for a more technical answer.

That's just what I was looking for... a half educated answer. I DO understand the legality issues with MS licensed material or any other company for that matter. Is this not a modding forum? If you can understand, I was merely looking for an answer with substance.

Retail games have a digital signature on the disc which the original Xbox bios sees and allows it to boot up. Since there is no way to burn this digital signature onto backup copies (I'm not sure why), the original Xbox bios sees that there is no signature and doesn't allow it to run. Modchips/softmods allow you to run unsigned software. I don't know a lot about softmods, but the modchip totally bypasses the Xbox bios and uses its own bios which allows you to run backup games and homebrew games.

The digital signature comes from a DVD press, as in this signature phsycially exists on the disc and will not be possible to fake/recreate unless you have a Microshaft DVD press.

From what I understand about DVDs, the key is stored in the lead-in, which is inaccessible to DVD burners. Blank DVD media simply has the lead-in all zeroed out so you can't duplicate the CSS key or Xbox digital signatures. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is how I understand it.
