burnt traces

Okay while trying to figure out why my mod isnt working, if think that i found a problem. i might have burnt a trace or more while soldering how do i know if it is the problem, take out the chip to run it, and on my header pin i was using a 15 watt iron, but two pins melted to the bottom of the hole, nothing sticks up is that a problem, if so can i fix it:eek:

ok first off dont play around with it too much. Get yourself a really good magnifing glass and clean up your board using some alcohol of nail polish remover. A check and see if all the traces are ok. I just fixed and xbox that someone removed a chuck of the trace it isnt that hard but you might what to go to a place that repairs electronics and get someone that can solder really good to do it for you. I dont really know how bad the pins are but i would careful try and push them thru the board. Use the solder iron to heat of the pin then push it thru.

btw 15 watt iron is fine you just probably held it down to long. read this article

the pin had is installed except that when i soldering two pins melted down almost to the bottom of the board

ok so the pins actually melted (on the underside or top side?) if so clean it up and make sure you didnt burn the board. If the board it ok and it the underside of the board it really doesnt matter if the pins stick out all the way all the matters is that they are connected to the board (with solder).

btw be careful soldering you only need to touch something for a quick second to solder it in place.

it was the underside, but i think it is allright i just have to find a bad solder, but i believe it is a pin

ok just touch up all the pins carefully with a little solder becare not to make to worst
