Buying a new Xbox360

im buying a new xbox360 off ebay. and i wanted to know the chances that the console im getting wont be modable. some say that there is like the BenQ drive that is not modable. so i just wanted to know. and if so. will it require any extra hardware?? or just i will need to download the firmware, knowing that i do have a SATA motherboard

It's just a random chance you might get a Benq drive that can't be modded, or you might get lucky with a Samsung or Hitachi.

IMO I would buy a console from a video game store like Gamestop and have the employee power the system up and open the drive so you know what you're getting. If you're buying used, I don't think they will have a problem doing this since "you would be requesting to make sure the system works" before purchasing. If the used system happened to be a banned system sold to the store you could just return and get a replacement.

You're taking a risk on Ebay on getting a banned or not even working system and I would never buy a console there
