Buying an XBOX

Hey guys, I'm brand spankin' new here. I'll be picking up an Xbox for christmas this year, and I want to get myself a modchip, and I heard incredible things about the Xecuter. I assume when I buy an Xbox I'll be getting 1.6 or 1.6b, but who knows.. anyway I just wanted to say what's up, and I just have a few questions that I'm hoping u experts can help answer:

1) Should I ask them for the latest version, and check the manufacture date before I buy, or just get whatever one they give me?
2) I live in Ontario, Canada, and I'm looking for the best place to buy this mod chip. Any suggestions to which site? I looked at modchip.ca and some others, still waiting on how much shipping will be...
3) I'm not exactly sure what I need.. I mean, I know I need the mod chip, but do I want the PRO switch, or the LCD screen? All I want to do is to be able to copy game onto an upgraded HDD, and go on LIVE! once in a while.

1) just check the date. i would stay away from the 1.6 or the 1.6b ( just a little more headache.)
2) as long as you stick to the official stores on the left you should be fine.
3) as far as the lcd and pro switch. it's just a matter of taste, do you want or need the extra "bing"

well, if a store is selling a 1.0 it must not be a very busy store j/k :lol:

more than likely if you ar luckyyou will maybe find some 1.4's.
the 1.6 is't hard to install, but you will have to get the pcb rebuild pcb and so some extra soldering. with all the trouble that i have read about the 1.6b that is the only one that i would say stay away from.

Great.. I think I'll order from them. Just waiting to see how much it will cost to ship.

I don't mind soldering, I know how and do it all the time, so if that's the only issue, who cares

Sounds like 1.6b causes some headaches :x

I'm actually going to Europe at the end of this week for a couple weeks, maybe I can pick one up there for cheap!! (Amsterdam -> Germany -> Poland)
