So I was doing several updates to my xbox today and made a critical mistake. I updated my config.ini on E: to the new 5032 standard while I was still using the 5029bios.

As I was going to flash to the new 5032 bios, Evox didn't show my the new 5032 that I just uploaded seconds ago. So I rebooted and awaited for my Evox to load but after the flubber animation my xbox crashes.

The flubber screen seems to split in half somewhere and there's a "13" in the top left corner.

Is there 1)a way bypass the config.ini so I can FTP back into my xbox so I can figx the problem? or 2)update my bios to 5032 in it's current condition to be compatible with the new config.ini?

thank you.

Ok I'm going to assume your chip has 2 banks. If it doesn't you mauy want to post what chip you have. Come to think of it you should have posted that anyway.

Boot to the other bank and flash another bios.

Tried it. Didn't work. It seems to be flashed on both banks, no exactly sure why, probably due to it's size??

Well regardless, my chip is an xecuter 2.6a

Also, some more info, when the xbox plays the flubber animation the LED on the eject button begins to flash red and green. As far as that split screen thing I mentioned earlier, it occurs at the end of the flubber animation and splits the screen diagonally from the top left to the bottom right. The lower left half is green, with the "13" in the top left.

13 is just an ini parsing or dash loading problem (due to bad ini config). It's in a thread around here somewhere. Doesn't matter what the screen looks like, if you get the 13 up there you've probably got an ini issue. You're already aware of the ini being incorrect for your bios, so...

Hopefully you didn't mess with the DVD boot options in your ini file. 5032 has a bonus DVD recovery if you've got a bad ini, but 5029 did not. (Or, I don't think it did... check the release notes, I'm to lazy to do so right now. :D) If you can still boot off DVDs then burn yourself up a boot disk of some sort. (confirm you can/can't boot off a retail disc before complaining that the bios won't read your boot disc. this will help identify if you're dealing with a burn media problem.) Use Slayers/EvoX/etc. You should then be able to get into your box and either a) get your bios flashed to 5032 or b) whack/correct your ini file.

Ok, the dvd recovery funtion was not added until 5032, I just checked.

As far as wether it will still read disc, I'm not sure, I don't have any retail dvd at my current location however I put in a movie dvd. With the modchip turned off, yes it will play. However with the modchip on, no, it will hang at the end of the flubber animation.
