Bypassing the 2.6 switch

Is there anyway to bypass the switch on a 2.6 so that the chip is always enabled and always reads from Bank 1?

I ask this because I've gone through no less than 3 switches and ALL have been flaky. I use to be able to order a replacement and things would be set straight, but now, even the replacements are faulty. I've decided to go ahead and try to get it working without a switch.

Any ideas?

For instance, the chip will work if I push real hard on the On/Off toggle. Then that will eventually stop working. If I turn it on, I'll get no LED's on the front, but I if I switch the On/Off back and forth it will come to life.

I can sometimes get some of the installs to boot correctly, but with no consistency because the switch is just so flaky. I've had installs that work for months, then just start crapping out. I replace their switch with a known good one, and presto, it works great.

Maybe Big_Whoopin might have some ideas? Should I solder the 2 5v's together and terminate the other switches? I read another thread where a guy suggested to solder the 5v to the D0, but I don't think this will help get rid of the switch.

It sounds like the plug on your CHIP is faulty. I'd look into replacing the chip and being more gentle with plugging in the switch. There was a problem that someone else had, his was doing the same thing. Try using some needlenose pliers to squeeze the plug into the "outlet" on the chip and make sure it's snug and tight. You might not have to replace anything. Just make sure everything's nice and square.
