C2C3 Fried during Nand X Install on Trinity

Don't beat me up too much but I was eager to perform this install and not only failed to use the proper equipment but also failed to properly use what I did have.

I was performing a nand x wires only install when I let a lot of solder get all over the place. Without thinking I heated everything up to remove it. Well I them noticed some smoke and fumes and when I looked, C2C3 was gone. I tried to clean it up a little. Is C2C3 a resister? Can this be easily fixed by soldering in a specific radio shack resistor to an alternate point or something or did I just waste a 360 motherboard?

I actually continued on with the Nand X install and dumped the nand successfully but I am afraid to actually turn the 360 on.

I have included pics so you can see the original C2C3 and compare with my hack job.

Please Help!!!!!!!

Your pic is blurry. C2C3 is a resitor. Get it replaced by someone who know what their doing and it should be fine.

Please dont ever ever use a soldering iron ever again.

I was actually hoping for some advice that would assist me in fixing the issue other than getting someone else to do it. I know I initially did a terrible job but I'm actually better than that in real life!

Youve already said you dont have the right tools though so I really wouldnt attempt it yourself.

I mean it is your choice though so I would suggest getting a clearer picture for us so we can see if youre going to need alternate points.

Get some desoldering wick and clean all those points up first, then fix the capacitor. Then install pin headers or qsbs. Low watt iron and some decent flux. Should be fine once you've cleaned up the area.

dont want to sound rude but the point you want to repair is smaller than what you have been working on and if this got outa hand doing that then you really need to stop and think are you willing to buy a new 360 cuz if you balls the fix then this is what it may come to ..looking at how much solder you been slpashing around how are you going to work with a 0603 smd resistor???? again not ment to put you down i am just thinking about saving your xbox..in the end you pay your money you take your pick ..but what will cost less paying somone to fix or a new xbox??
anyway all the very best with getting it sorted bud

Here is a better picture.

This is what I understand from you all so far............
I'm a terrible person that willingly murders XBOX360s and I should be locked up forever while they throw away the soldering iron!

I guess you are all correct but I am a person willing to learn from my mistakes and take the risk to get it right. I'm less likely to render two xboxes useless if I have already done it to one. I'd like to finish this myself. Please assist me. I'm glad we got that out of the way.

I'm going to get a new soldering tip, some tinner, desoldering braid, and flux. I had these but I just can't find them.

So from the pic it looks like there are definitely two good solder points to use.

Is there a consensus here that the part needed is a 0603 smd resistor? If so, what value is it and can something from radioshack substitute for it or do I have to special order?

correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't C2C3 a capacitor guys? lolol

edit - I would check the capacitance on mine, but I'm not at home right now to check....
I did notice someone has posted the recommended capacitor for you on page 2 but they listed C3C2 - i'm sure that's just a typo tho

edit 2: poster has ammended typo ;)

Yes I stand corrected, that point is a cap.

I hope I don't have to buy a package of 10,000 just to get 1.

PM me your address if you want and I'll pull a couple off some of my harvest mobos and get them out to you. Save you the hassle of buying a bunch of them for 1 fix.

It looks like the site socalbill provided does allow to buy individuals. They cost a little more when purchased in a smaller quantity but that's to be expected.

Are we all in agreement that this is the exact capacitor needed? .1uf

I've just seen this thread for the first time.

Nearly spat my coffee over my keyboard on the pics.

Seriously, you've two hopes of soldering that back yourself:

Bob Hope and no hope.

Get someone to do it.

I too wonder if ant of these caps are available in phat 360s. What other components are interchangeable?
