It's not really clear to me what Microsoft's been doing with the PSU's supplied with Xbox 360 slims (normal slims, not the E version) and I'm wondering whether a Trinity board can be powered with a 115W Corona PSU.

I know Coronas are rated lower than Trinities (9.6A vs 10.83A), but I think at first Coronas were supplied with the same PSU rated at 130W and only later came the 115W PSU's. Also, as far as I can see both have the exact same connector.

Besides, I read somewhere that Trinity's draw 100W under full load, meaning the 115W Corona supply should be able to take it.

Can anyone confirm it's possible to power a Trinity with a 115W Corona PSU? Anyone ever tried it?

I use a 203W Xenon PSU with a slim adapter, so I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work.
yeah it will. I have a 203W PSU n it works on all phat consoles. and for slims just add the slim adapter. n ur set!
Me too, but I meant the other way around, a 115W PSU on a 130W board ;).

Yeah I have also used the corona 9.6A PSU on trinity mobo consoles for extended periods of time, both retail and RGH'd consoles... no problems so far...
Thanks, that was the confirmation I was looking for! :)

Edit: also with a Kinect btw? I think it can draw around 12 watts so that would pretty much explain the difference. On the other hand, if the plug fits, it should work I guess (or else blame Microsoft).

We wish it was that easy... I blame Micro$oft for everything anyways and it gets me nothing... But I have abstained from using any additional devices other that an occasional play n charge... one at a time though as to not overload the psu.. I think common sense here would allow one to get away with using the lower rated psu on the trinity mobo... keep us posted if anything happens...

IMHO, if MS needed to restrict Trinity consoles to a PSU type, Trinity and Corona PSUs wouldn't be interchangeable. There would be a physical block on you connecting it.
