Can an X3 CE reflash the ORIGINAL bios chip?

Can the original BIOS chip be reflashed. Not the BIOS on the mod device, the original!

My XBox was suffering from what is referred to as a "Coma Console". No video and the DVD won't open but everything else appears to be good. DVD spins, disk spins, voltages are all good from the power supply and the led glows green. Bottom line, Microsquish's hardware somehow blew away the original system BIOS. My MB is a revision 1.3 so the BIOS address jumper trick will not work where you try an alternative bank on the 1 meg device found on earlier models. Bear in mind that this was an unmodded virgin system direct from Bill @#@%#$ Gates.

I found that using a mod chip to bypass the original BIOS was the only fix. I got an X3CE, installed it and all is good again. I can boot using the new chip and do everything I used to be able to and more.

The X3CE will allow you to boot in the standard "non-modded" mode if you press and hold the power button. Well, my standard BIOS committed suicide with the assitance of Microsquish design incompetence. Ever see a standard PC trash its own BIOS? Didn't think so, NEVER happens. I would like my XBox to work both ways, with the mod chip active and inactive. Can this be fixed?

Just my opinion... but I bet that the chip set that the origional bios is located on is damaged somehow... hence the need for the X3. Even if there were a way to write to one... I think yours would be toast anyway.

There is a TSOP softmod but I don't think that would help you.

Sorry for the bad news.

Slayers has the original xbox bios on it. You could try that.

Thanks, I think you are most likely correct. The BIOS chip itself is probably fried. Not worth the effort to replace it since the box is working otherwise. If it ain't broke don't fix it, right? Open it again for no good reason and I'm sure I'll see one big arc of static electricity and nothing will ever work again.

Off to the Slayer original BIOS. Sure I can load that to the X3CE chip. The goal however was to restore that image onto the actual BIOS chip on the motherboard, not the new device.

So far, nobody saying "I've done it, here is the tool that permits it to be done."

For now, I'll just say "Can't be fixed. I'll stay in modified mode."

Thanks all.

Does slayer have the bios or the original dash files?

I'm pretty sure that slayer doesn't have the bios. I think that the bios is hardwritten into the xbox... hence the need for a chip to bypass it.

Stay modified... xbox live is for fat kids!

Not on this planet!
Yes Slayers does have the origional bios, Yes it has origional dash files and yes it can be flashed but you will need a 29 wire mod to flash the origional TSOP.

29 wire mod. Ouch! That reminds me of the time at the Beta house when I was a pledge and they lined up 29 shots and one hot beer in front of us... Oh well, thats another story.
