I just purchased an x3CE chip with the solderless adapter for a v1.6b board. I followed all the instructions and all I get when I boot is the MS dash. Do I need to do something else? I thought the chip had a bios flash on it?

ok i know that i wont be much help but maybe some of the question i am going to ask can help some one else answer your questions

ok the chip comes with bios on it but they are called flash bios ... they are use for so you can put the hack bios on your xbox with will let you play back ups.. so did you put any hack bios on the chip?

also did you put a new dash board on your xbox ( this is not need to run the chip but it just adds new options for what you can do with the chip)

I didn't put a hacked bios on the chip. I haven't seen the screen come up with the Flash Bios. Only the MS dashboard. Should the Flash Bios come up when you boot? Do the switch banks have to be set to something for it to boot?

Well i belive for what i read so far you need to switch the banks to were the flash bios are on... Also to pull up the flash bios i think you need to press and hold the white button on your xbox controller

also there are different ways to start up your xbox like you press the power button real quick or you hold if for a sec or two then start up the xbox.. you can also press the power and eject button at the same time i belive

Well this is so far what i think i know so i dont want to say this is what you need to do cause i am still learning but i think this could help you get to the flash bio screen that can on your chip

boot the xbox by pressing the eject button, this should bring up the flash bios screen,
have you got the standard switch, pro switch or control panel ?

I have the pro switch x3cp installed but I don't have the LCD running yet as I have not got the bios to load

Also it powers on as soon as it's pluged in now and I can't turn it off or eject unless I take off the eject adapter lead to the chip

check the power/reset adapter for shorts on the back, when you boot pressing the eject button does it boot flashbios or the ms dashboard?

It only boots to MS dash. Do I need to have the power reset adapter pluged in? Like I said It powers on as soon as I plug it in. Also what should my pro switch be set at?

yeah, is there a short on the back of the apdater?

Matt
On the back of the power / eject adapter? I'm starting to become:mad: Not at you... this whole thing. I have read many posts that say it is somewhat common for the power/eject to have a short. Should it still work without it??

You can get your X3 to work by not installing that adapter. The only difference is that you cannot control the chip enabled/disabled/backup modes with the power button, but that can still be controlled via X3 CL.

Do you mean that I would have to open the console to flick that switch? I'm a little confused now. So set pro switch to On, On, Off, Off and protect Off ? I have tried to boot this way and only MS dash comes up. What am I doing wrong other than trying to get this thing to work:rolleyes:

What I meant was, if you disconnect your Power/eject adapter the X3 will still work. You can turn the chip on or off through the X3 CL (X3 Config Live) that is an onscreen menu system.

That is different to turning the protect on or off (the little switch on the chip itself)

Have you checked your D0? Sounds like chips not booting. Also confirm that you have 2 blue led's on your X3 chip. Sounds more like an install issue than a bios issue.

Yes 2 blue LED's at the 3v and 5v on either side of the switch socket. I have a solderles xapt3r v1.6 adapter. I have checked it twice and it's all in the right spots. I don't need to solder the HDD, LAN & D0 under the board as I understand, just won't get the lights for HDD & LAN right??
