Can anything be done with this?

Hello all,

New to the group, and have done some reading, but am confused as to what I can and can't do with my present setup. I have a PHAT Xbox360 purchased somewhere around 2006-2007. It was modded in 2008 with iXtreme 1.4. It is working, but I would like to bring it back to stock in order to just play purchased games. Here are the details:

- The Dashboard has not been updated since Sept 2008 (possibly earlier) - I can get my Dashboard version if that is required
- The Xbox came stock with a Hitachi 46 which died in Sept 2008 (read errors) - I replaced it with a Hitachi 59DJ and modded with iXtreme 1.4. I still have the Hitachi 46 stored away.
- I have the initial set of BINs from each drive before they were modded (key, now, was, and the bin with the model name)
- I'm not sure what my SATA setup is, but I flashed it back in Sept 08 using a SATA cable attached to my motherboard
- I'm running windows XP
- There's a xBlaster 360 NE attached to the Xbox360

All I would like is to put it back onto Live and start playing store bought games without getting banned. I figure there is a complication as the original box had the model 46 and now I'm running a 59. Is my easiest fix to just purchase a Hitachi 46 and pop that in? Would I have to swap the PCB from the original 46 drive in order to do this? Can anything be done or am I SOL?

Thanks to all in advance!

It's been a couple years, but I think it was reading errors. If I remember correctly, I tried to adjust the POTs but that didn't work - that's why I went with the new drive...

Put a new laser in it if that works your good to go. :)
I'm not sure it's on the same Dash as the drive that's in there now (the 59) - is that a problem?. I'm guessing there's no way to go back to a full stock setup by only flashing?

You could always check the old drive....that's where I would start as it is the easiest quickest way to update. Doesn't matter if the laser is dead for updates. Do you remember if you updated your dash with the flashed drive in it in the passed? Or just flash your 59 with the stock correct 46 firmware I think all the old Hitachi boards where interchangeable as long as the firmware matches.

I don't think so - I was paranoid of getting booted with a modded setup so I don't think I ever went on Live with it.

That being said, is there some way I could check - or do I have to go from memory here?

I assume that if the new drive (59) was Dash updated, and I put the old drive in and update, I can get into some trouble? (banned)?

use jungleflasher and check the firmware on your stock drive......If you still have your old bin files they will tell you everything you need to know and enable you to flash back to stock etc. Once on stock your firmware update it and done.

No potential issues if the Dash version is out of sync with the old Drive (46)? Does the Dashboard link to the drive firmware somehow???

(Thanks for answering all the questions btw)

You say in post 7 you never went on live for fear of being banned if you never updated it I don't see how there would be a dash issue with the stock drive but again a check of your firmwares would tell you what firmware you have and it was on etc .....seeing how this is a TX forum I recommend a x360usbpro to read and write.. All the steps are in the jungleflasher pdf. Or take the old board and put it in the new drive and see if it reads games.

Ok, so I'll stick the old drive in. Any issue with taking the laser out of the 59 and putting it into the 46? Should it work?
