Hey All -

After having one too many RROD on my old box, I went to GameStop and bought a used Xbox 360 today. I got an older white one thinking it would have more compatible hardware for my Samsung drive which works fine.

I got home to find out that it's dash was old and so updated it. Afterwards found out it had Lite-On drive and that newest dash brings it's firmware to 0251 (which I verified in Jungleflasher.)

I have the hardware to flash a drive, but none of the probe tools or very good soldering skills. Is there any way I can get the DVD Key off of the LiteOn so that I can use it on my old Sammy? I am hoping that it's possible with my tools since I don't need to be able to write to the Lite-On drive for now.

Thanks Guys!

What your asking about is called "spoofing" which has not been supported for some time now. It can lead to issues. I recommend finding someone local to flash your liteon for you or send it to someone reputable here on the forums.

why swap drives?

if you have a console that has a working drive, flash it.

yes you will need a probe for a liteon, you can make one up with a spare power connector and a pin its very simple.
