LITEON DG-16D4S - SLIM can i switch from winbond to MXIC?

alright well i have a winbond, and i wanted to switch to MXIC (i cant do the kamakaze hack and dont wanna spend 70 dollars on a new pcb)

can i just get a MXIC and switch the firmware and dummy and everything would that work??

No, you can't just switch it to another drive type. To unlock it you will need to kamikaze or buy an unlocked board.

shoot, i dont wanna do the kamakaze hack because im not experienced enough,

i thought maybe if i got the dummy.bin
then i can load that onto the new drive which is MXIC,
but i guess i need to unlock my drive first.

Oh I thought you meant switch the drive to a new type, not spoofing.

You can spoof the key to a new drive but I heard spoofing can't be done on LT+ 3.0.

what if i bought a drive with the same firmware on it? and just switched the keys. i have a lite on 0272

and if i was to buy another 0272 could i just switch the keys?

Yes, you can spoof the key to a new drive, you just can't spoof to a different drive.

Lets say you have a BenQ and you need to replace it. You can only use a BenQ drive

yes you can swap the winbond pcb for a mxic mobo no problem.so if you have a 0401 winbond mobo you can swap it for 0401 mxic

yes you can if your original drive is 0272 winbond you can take a 0401 mxic mobo and flash 0272 firmware to it.
