Can I Update Nand-X With The USB Cable Supplied With The Nand-X Retail Package

I intend to use the Nand-X to program the Xecuter Cool Runner but I will need to update my Nand-X to Version 3.0.

The Nand-X Retail package includes a USB cable and I was wondering if I could use this USB cable to update the Nand-X to version 3.0

No. You can soon purchase a nand usb update cable from main resellers.

Or if you have a ck3/I you can purchase or make a cable to do the trick.

If you have a ck3i you will be able to update it with a cable like this:

So what is the need of the cable that comes with the NAND-X?

That is used only when reading/writing your console's NAND flash.
