SAMSUNG MS25 Can I Update Samsung Drive without Xbox?

Let me start off by saying sorry if I put this in the wrong section.

So here's the thing I have a XENON Xbox 360 on Dash 2.0.5766.0 (I know it's JTAGable, but I'm scared to mess something up) with a Samsung Drive. I want to know if I can update the DVD drive without updating the xbox. I'm going to be using the DVD Drive to make backup's of my games. I also have to Xecuter X360USB PRO V2 (Latest Version) so I can keep the drive stock.

So how do I update the drive without the xbox and will a non AP25 drive effect the play/burn process in a Lite-on Drive? Plus is there a way to patch without using ABGX360 in case I can't get to the internet?

Samsung drive couldn't be used for reading full backups.
You can update the drive to post-13416 firmware but xbox could show E66 error.

I think I'm just going to go ahead and use my Lite-on out of my xbox to get the data. I'm just going to have to pull the thing out every time. The only good thing is I don't have to flash to an 800 since I have a X360USB Pro 2. Is there any specific settings I need to enable in XBC?
