does the sysnand version need to be same as emunand?

Yes, sxos will make an emunand from your current sysnand.
2.6.1 does support 7.x.x.
I updated from 6.2 to 7.01 (clean sysnand), then made a new 7.0.1 emunand (hidden partition). Using 2.6.1 I have not encountered any issues thus far,

You can have your sysnand on 6.2 and update your emunand on 7.0.1.
SX OS 2.6.1 fully supports 7.0.1.
My own setup is like this: sysnand on 5.1 and emunand on 7.0.1.
I'm on 7.0.1 sysnand... And my 6.0 emunand was still working... I got the newsst sxos boot file on SD card.... Tried to update my emunand to 7.0.1 using ChoiDujour 1.0.1... it all appeared to go fine. Now when booting emunand it just stays black screen 
sysnand works fine tho I'm not sure the issue. Only thing I can think.. first time using ChoiDujour... I think the autorcm don't burn fuses was still on when using it to update what's up
