So I tried the Kamikaze hack on my DG-16D4S 1701 drive, but failed. Fortunately for me, my friend who also has a DG-16D4S had swapped out his PCB for an unlocked replacement PCB, so he gave me his.

Same drive (DG-16D4S), but unlike mine which was a 1701, his is a 0401. Question is, can I use his PCB? I actually already did the Kamikaze hack on this PCB and was successful (2nd time's a charm I guess).

What precuations do I need to take? Should I use the keys from my original 1701 drive (which I have)? Should I spoof the firmware, and flash LT+3.0 1701 version to his 0401 drive? I appreciate any help.

so old key and firmware version (1701 in this case; not the 0401 which was my friend's pcb)?

also, from what I understand my friend simply replaced his PCB with an Unlocked one, but did not get the keys from his original board to spoof to the replacement one. Is that OK? If I need to spoof my key to this other board, why was he able to get away with not doing so to his unlocked replacement pcb?

Actually. Do I need to any direct spoofing? I just loaded my old 1701 dummy.bin, which picked LTPlus-1071-v3.0.bin as the target firmware with my old keys. It just flashed perfectly. So I assume I good to go? My drive with friend's PCB (that was originally 0401 fw) now has LT+ 3.0 1701 firmware with my original keys?

As it is the same hardware there is NO spoofing needed!

Its just loading a new firmware to the drive.

Since you used your Dummy.bin which contained you Key and FW version, it automatically flashed it and should work perfect.

"jeremy790" was talking about using manual spoofing just to enter your DVD key which is a waste of time if you have it saved already, not just written down.

(actually writing it on the inside steel of the Xbox Case, or using a label maker etc, is a good idea. Just as a backup in-case of some insane situation, I did it to my own console)

EDIT! Forgot to mention your Good to go and it will be safe for use online!!
