Data: I purchased a pre-hacked (non banned) phat xbox 360 with a benq drive quite some time ago. This was during the lite-on scare phase, where people were struggling with ways to hack those drives so I just pulled the trigger on a verified benq.

It came with iXtreme v1.41-12x . At some point I got banned, I don’t even know why I had the stupid thing connected to the internet, I never use XBL and have no desire to at all.
I burned/played many games successfully with this firmware, but then realized it was time to upgrade, so in December of 2009 (can’t even believe it’s been that long) I upgraded the drive to iXtreme v1.61-12x-FINAL-VAD6038, using JungleFlasher v0.1.67 Beta (50). Here is a log of that flash: http://pastebin.com/Q2xmHLDn

My PC setup is a Windows XP 32 bit install with a Rosewill RC-215 with VIA 6421 chipset card. (can see it here at newegg: http://tinyurl.com/rosewillvia ) I do NOT have the drivers installed as is instructed.

Because of some crap going on my life I had to box the PC up, so it has been untouched since that time.

I’ve been happy with this xbox running a very old dash (no I don’t remember the version of dash). My brother then decided to take his legit copy of GOW3 and play on my xbox, it forced him through an update of the dash...... so it updated the dash to whatever ships with GOW3

Maybe a dumb move on my part I figured I might as well update the dash to the absolute latest version, so I updated to 2.0.14699.0 (downloaded via http://tinyurl.com/2-0-14699-0 )

Now I CAN play legit games, including the copy of GOW3 owned by my brother, but I am unable to play backups.
The problem:
I am attempting to upgrade to the latest LTPlus-0442-v3.0 but before we go down that road I can NOT get the drive to show up in the latest JungleFlasher v0.1.92 Beta (304). I have followed all the guides to a T. I am using the xbox to power the drive, and have the drive connected to the Rosewill VIA card in the winxp pc.
I have tried just about every combination of ports on the VIA card, selecting different I/O port numbers in Jungleflasher. I know that I’m supposed to power up the drive, have the drive open, then close the drive but pull the power while it’s half way open.... I do that and no matter what else I just cannot get this thing to show up in Jungleflasher.
pic of jungleflasher: http://i43.tinypic.com/xkzw40.jpg pic of device manager: http://i44.tinypic.com/23sc9y1.jpg
and a recent log where I did just about everything, someone suggested toggling the checkbox next to “VIA ports Only” So I did that and tried different I/O ports.
pastebin of log: http://pastebin.com/Fn5Mx2Cm I am running as administrator, and have tried a different SATA cable as well.

I'd really appreciate any possible solutions to this issue. Again this console is banned and that's just fine with me.

UPDATE: got it to work, key was following this guy’s instructions here: http://forums.jungleflasher.net/index.php?topic=2707.msg8555#msg8555 Specifically the following points:
1. INSTALL: Windows V-RAID Drivers - http://xrl.us/befb65
2. REMOVE CORRECTLY: Go through the steps in the tut, starting at page 157. Device mngr should say VT6421 and !yellow
3. CHECK THE PORT IN JF: "VIA ports Only" untick/tick to check. Status (code 39) in JF log = working!
4. USE THIS PORT ON THE CARD: http://bit.ly/eufQ5Q

That assisted me the most and I saw the following (which is different from my previous pic links above)
1. Device Manager now: http://i43.tinypic.com/23rvkpc.jpg
2. Got this response in JungleFlasher: http://i42.tinypic.com/1razgh.jpg (code 39... good!)
3. I was still having issues, so I monkied around with the xbox itself some more, toggled the VIA ports only box again and all of a sudden it stated “drive is benq” in the log area and it had auto selected 0xD100 as the I/O port (different from when I flashed 2 years ago) Here’s a pic of how that looked: http://i42.tinypic.com/a5kzl.jpg
4. At this point everything was golden, here’s the new log: http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=NYtek2nH

At this point, I have tested one backup and it does play just fine, and in fact plays from the HDD (rather than using the DVD which is noisy) , but GOW3 retail refuses to play from the HDD.
Why?
(HATE the DVD-ROM noise!)

Ok so to close up my last question, GOW3, because of the new security checks even after it is installed to the hdd will take 3-5 minutes to stop spinning.
