no, the hdd only needs to be lock if you want to use xbox live and the m$ bios.

If you never changed the hard drive - you dont need to worry about it. When we say locked - we dont mean like write protect.

We mean thats its locked to that xbox.

If you did put a bigger HD in........

Once its locked you can turn the mod chip off, and the xbox will see the hard drive as a 8 gig original. So you should be able to use xbox live. (assuming you did not use live on the old hard drive)

A locked hard drive cant be put into another xbox without unlocking it first.

I have a 300GB in one of my machines - but Because I cant lock it, I can never turn the chip off - this this box will never be able to use live.

*note that not all replacement HD can be locked.

[WARNING] Be careful of XBins for LT+1.1

I just got my 83850c v1 flagged thanks to XBins. In firmware it has the old iXtreme 1.1 firmware, not the LT+ 1.1

Be careful of what you download. I was trying to upgrade from LT+ 1.0, so I already had the new dashboard on it. I realized that it was not LT+1.1 when my AC2 disc would not start up.

Now, sure enough my console has been flagged. Thanks whoever put the iXtreme 1.1 firmware up.

For others, be careful and google the LT+ 1.1 firmware, and do not use the xbins one as it has not been updated and the one in the default updated firmware directory for Lite-Ons is INCORRECT.

Re: [WARNING] Be careful of XBins for LT+1.1

i just checked xbins - to be fair - the fw's on there are not incorrect! there are 2 fws on there for liteon - one is LTPlus the other LTv1.1
They are not incorrectly labelled - they just havent got LT Plus v1.1 on there yet

It tricks your mind a little reading the titles

Re: [WARNING] Be careful of XBins for LT+1.1

I have always used xbins as a trusted source for new firmware. I noticed they don't have LT+ v1.1 on there yet and consequently I have been trying to find an alternative reliable source for the last 2 days. I am very reluctant in trusting any other source without some form of confirmation its legit.

I don't mean to breach the rules but...

Is the developers website ixtreme.net? If not where can we get LT+ v1.1???

Re: [WARNING] Be careful of XBins for LT+1.1

All I have to say is SLICK and James are very nice people who promptly email me when theres a big alert. Although I believe it is auto email. HA! 360 mods and Braveheart arent too shabby neither, probably should listen to them. It is Xmas time maybe Santa will bring me my new reading glasses and firm. Just a wish. Also, I wonder, everytime I flash in JF why it tells me the firm im autoloading and spoofing to. Strange because its staring you in the face on the screen. Sometimes you put the cart before the horse and get burned, I think were all guilty of getting ahead of ourselves at one point or another. Unfortunately, now is not the time to be making basic mistakes. As everyone has read, read, read again, then double check your work, read, read more, redo it, do it again, and as soon as youre 100% sure, check it again. Because as soon as you think you know everything yuo realize you know nothing at all. Again, really sucks you got bricked.

ixtreme.net is NOT affiliated with TeamJungle or c4eva. - so dont take 'everything' you read there as gospel. They are decent blokes that try their best tho.

irc channels are a better way to keep up to date!
(there is an irc chat app in the links on left on the home page of this site)

Re: [WARNING] Be careful of XBins for LT+1.1

last week or so when I had to flash my younger bothers xbox I checked xbins it wasn't there so I hopped on irc with chatzilla and there was a link to the firmware in the topic thought it was kinda strange that xbins doesn't have it.
