ok, please help, I have tried almost everything that is available on the web.
I need a few questions answered so I can keep my sanity.

1) I followed all the instructions on the slayers manual (to burn the disc as ISO etc) and my xbox could not read the disc. this was burnt onto DATASAFE DVD-R. I tried resetting X3 config to default and doing a reboot (as suggested by someone) but to no avail. so what am I doing wrong with this??? as I already have the ISO image (I downloaded as an ISO), so there is nothing much more to it than that agreed???

2) I tried just burning the EvoX dash onto disc (downloaded it from xbins), following the tutorial in the forum word for word and still my xbox cant recognise the disc!!!! Would it help if I put a dummy file in the folder which contains the default.xbe and the evox.ini (the parent directory) when I am about to make the xiso??? If so, how big should it be???

3) Now my DVD drive is a pretty new thomson (pish I know) but I am pretty sure that it is not the DVD drive that is at fault as I had a game on my PC hard drive that I put onto disc using the multi game menu program thing and it worked fine.......well ok it coughed and spluttered a bit but at least it read it in the first place. PLUS I put my X3 BIOS onto disc and it read that fine aswell!!!!!!
Now I have been using the same media ALL the time for everything, DATASAFE (datawrite printable surface) DVD-R.
Does it sound like I am doing something wrong or is just that I need to get a samsung DVD drive???
Any help would be great
Thanks
a very tired

Ok... if i read correctly, you downloaded the EvoX dash and burned it to disc right? Unless it's a boot disc, i don't think it will work. If you want to install a dashboard, you should get an auto-installer and go with that. If you just want to install Evo-X, why don't you just FTP it over?

I don't know if you can just boot up anything that you put on a disc (i might be wrong here). But i do know for sure, that an auto-installer will help you out for sure.

I have tried the auto installer aswell. I burnt that onto a disc (as I downloaded the already made ISO file) and that didnt work either.
I am thinking it may be my Nero software that I am using. I am using Nero 6 OEM and when I start it up it tells me that this version of nero has known problems with this version of windows (XP).
Could this be problem???? If so, wht is another good program for burning the ISO files as all the tutorials seem to be using Nero
Thanks

mmm i had same problem with my xbox dvd drive not reading the discs that i burnt, the solution was simple remove the xbox cover and then remove the ide cable from the xbox dvd ,open pc and remove the ide cable from the pc dvd/cd drive put the xbox next to pc and plug the xbox ide cable into the pc dvd drive,pc drive is powered by pc but connected to xbox

so now your xbox is connected to the pc dvd drive, leave the yellow wires in the stock xbox dvd put an original game dvd in xbox drive mine needed this to work yours might not(the game disc)

put the cd you want to boot on xbox in pc drive if its burnt right the pc drive will read it

now reboot your xbox and lo and behold all those coasters you had lying around are working if you burnt em correctly

the major problem i had was that the xbox dvd wasnt reading the cdr media that i was using but this is a simple solution worked for me every time i got stuck with not being able to boot the cd that i burnt

had problem with my bios disc not being read and same problem when i upgraded to larger hard drive xbox would not read slayers 2.6 disc

i would recommend slayers 2.6 u can rebiuld all m$ files on c drive and boot to evox dash from cd even if hard drive is empty gr8 prog if u buggered something up on the drive or wanna new hard drive would also reccomend autoinstaller deluxe v2.0 with these 2 discs u can install just about everything and rebiuld a drive from scratch easily
