Can we expect a new bios anytime soon?

This is on the homepage, posted by Xecuter - There will probably not be another X2 Bios unless there are any major bugs that require fixing - we havn't been notified of any as yet. There have been a total of 16 bios releases from Xecuter this year, one hopes that has satisfied the majority.
Unless they come up with some completly new feature, I think the only bits to alter on the current 5035 release are cosmetic. I haven't seen anyone bitch about it in a bit, but I know in the past there were plenty of complaints about the "boring" X2 Config Live Loading screen. If there were a way to embed an image into the bios, even if just a nice X2 logo, this would make things a bit more dressed up.
Rather than a new bios, what I am waiting for is an app to edit the ini directly on the Xbox. No PC/FTP required. Given the work I've seen done and the rewards I've been able to reap at the mere cost of an X2 chip, I'm not gonna push the issue. I'd like to know if/when we may see this happen (IIRC it has been hinted at as a future project) but I'm not going to start complaining since there isn't one, or any news of one, yet. Behaving one's self and being patient in the boards seems to help keep Xecuter happy.

I agree with you, since X2 is not the flagship product anymore, I guess the development will be limited to bug-fixes for already present features...
About that editing application, check out the Notepad script for XBMC:

Bugs? What bugs? The 5035 bug forum hasn't been touched in over 3 months. The thing has actually gotten dusty.
Thanks for the links, I'll check those out. I've poked around with the text editor in UnleashX a bit too. But the in a perfect world there would be an app like the X2 Config Maker that could be run as an XBE. No risk of typeos. Previews of settings. Potential to actually browse for the dashboard app instead of typing in the path. If only I knew a lick of coding that could be applied... what I do minor programming on is of no use to the Xbox scene.

Well, it's been quiet in the post front from Xecuter, not heard anything about the new X3 bios in a while - guessing he's got his head down finishing it off and concentrating on the other projects he has on the go. It sounds like it might be the last X3 bios releases before all the 360 stuff kicks off so it should be worth the wait. We could end up with everything here! The talk was that there was going to be a built in file manager, plus all the nice animation stuff from the 5035 kernel. Looking forward to this one, it should be the icing on the cake.
