If you have your current dvd key you can flash/spoof it to the new dvd drive with jungle flasher. If you dont have your key, extract it first.

You could spoof the KEY. You would probably have difficulty spoofing the drive type. OSIG would not match going forward.

Example:

You COULD take one phat Liteon drive from one console spoof the key and put it into a different console that also originally came with a LiteOn drive.

You COULD NOT (very successfully at least) take a phat liteon from one console and spoof the drive into a console that originally came with a Hitachi drive for example. You might get games to play, but dashboard updates would fail.

So dont mix and match drives with consoles. It dosent work. You can change spoof the key for any drive. Is this correct?

You can mix a few drives and spoof them and play games notmally. But you might have trouble installing dashboard updates. You should be able to spoof almost any drive with the right tools. Jungle Flasher and google is your friend.

What exactly is your drive's problem? Will like to know what exactly you are trying to do. Are you having problems with a dvd drive and will like to replace it? All of this involves reading the key from your drive or console with some equipment.

Im wondering if i can swap out a Slim Lite-On DG-16D4S Winbond with a identical drive with MXIC and not have dashboard problems like you are saying.

The drives are identical - Lite-On DG16D4S 0225

If i swap my OG one out whitch is Winbond with a MXIC drive will i have any problems in the future?

^
Martin, thats me asking the question 2 times but differently so its easier to understand if you dont understand me the first time :D

I also am working with a slim trinity, of course

I've seen issues in some cases where an MXIC was put in place of a Winbond. They were from people here on the forums, so I would recommend sticking with (either) like for like or getting a TX replacement board.

I gather this means that there are other changes in the TX board that stops this being a problem then ?. as the TX board has an MXIC chip

I don't know whether it was due to user error, but we definitely had at least one case where an MXIC stock board was used to replace a Winbond and there were problems.

The TX board uses an external SPI (as do the pro kits), so maybe this has something to do with it working better.

@OP - Now you understand the importance of including enough information in your question to get an answer. When you only give a small piece of the information needed you'll only get a small piece of the answer expected. Had your original post included a description of what you were trying to accomplish and a well thought out question you would have gotten a reasonable answer the first time.
