Can you swap the chip from a DG-16D4S from a DG-16D5S or does it have to be the same.

If the console is glitched, you can do it, but it won't work on a retail console.

If you want to play your backup discs on your console, you will need to buy an LTU(2) PCB and use RGH to obtain the required files.

No just retail because the dvd drive will not read. I want to swap it out. But if I get the same dvd drive it ok to swap.

If the drive is not reading games you need to replace the laser not the drive
