can you telll if the xbox has a hitachi drive

If I buy a used xbox or new can i tell if it has the hitachi drive so I can use the new firmware that still works on xbox live?? Thanks

Hi,

As far as I know there is no way of telling what type of drive you are going ot be getting untill you get home and plug into power and press eject on the dvd drive.

I just bought an xbox360 but the drive doesn't look like either one of those pictures. Is there a 3rd drive now or has one changed? Mine looks more like the Hitachi but a cleaner loop
in the tray...

Sorry there should be 3 on that pic. Must have put the wrong link on soz. The third one which you are refering to is the BenQ/Philips/LiteOn.

In Textbooks tutorial, It adivse's that there is no firmware or software to flash the BenQ/Philips/LiteOn models, but that was back in July 07.

So I dunno weather there is anything as of yet or not.
