I have a crystal xbox 1.6b (hynix ram) and installed a xecuter3 SE. To make the story short, I do not have a cromwell bios anymore, and i cannot boot my secondary or backup banks because they are bios version 3.0.1. I cannot boot into the normal ms dashboard with the chip disabled because it cannot unlock the hd (error 6 [multilanguage]). I had the supplier flash a bios on the primary bank, but i cannot seem to make any use out of it. When i boot off the primary bank (blue X on, both blue leds on) i see the normal xbox loading screen, followed by a slightly different error 6 screen (oops something is wrong), and the xbox light FRAGs. I have tried to boot slayer, but i am not sure that i am using it right.

I have at one time been able to use the cromwell bios, but i screwed it up be overwriting it with the wrong bios (thats when i got the supplier to flash the primary bank). I tried to hotswap my hd with my computer before i sent the chip to the supplier, thats why i get the error 6. I am really stuck and need some help to make my xbox working.

Unless I'm wrong, cromwell v3.0.1 works with xbox v1.6b. I would boot to cromwell 3.0.1. Switch your control panel to on on off off off and flash with X3 2913 v16plus.bin bios.

as Martin C pointed out that v1.6b xboxes needs cromwell v3.0.3 (thanks for the info. I didn't know about this). As long as you can boot up to that version of cromwell, you may try to flash it to banks 5678 (off on off off off). If you don't have that version of cromwell, you would need it programmed by a retailer or have it hotflash by someone.

by "status of the hd" as in lock or unlock then yes, it should boot. If as in dead hd, then I would think also yes. The only reasons I could think why cromwell would not boot is mb incompatibility or corrupt cromwell bios.
