i did spend a good while looking through the forums, and there was one thing that described my problem.

4) Cant boot the mod chip disabled by holding the power button.
-- Check the solder points on the back of the reset/eject daughterboard. Multiple reports of people (me included) that had a solder bridge on one of the connections. this caused the x3 to always think I was pressing the power button AND the eject button at boot.

however, when i looked on the back of the daughterboard, everything seemed perfectly fine to me. everything works aside from that, if i select reboot to dash i go right into the normal xbox dashboard, but the modchip refuses to disable under any circumstances. also, when i hit the eject button, my xbox turns off... is that normal with the modchip? because it's quite an irritation, i have to hit both buttons randomly and pray my drive opens up in order to switch CDs in there because it won't open when i hit eject. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is it a 1.6 box? If so, did you remember to remove pin 6 from the LPC header? if not then that is youer problem.

If this is the case then (If you are careful) you may be able to take your X3 chip off and just snip the pin off with some thin nosed pliers (saves de-soldering and the potential problems there)....Dont go bending the bloody thing back and forth though AND Make sure it is pin 6 .

no, i do not have a 1.6 xbox. mine is a 1.0, so that isn't the problem. thanks for trying, though.

You haven't put the Alt 5V lead on have you? This is only for 1.6 boxes.

Sorry if i am teaching to suck eggs, just trying to get you sorted.

its okay, but no, i have not put it on. i only did what was shown on the instructions for 1.0-1.5, and im pretty sure its something messed up somewhere with the buttons... eject isnt working correctly, if i hold down eject i end up in the backup stuff, its weird, and pissing me off.

360 in micro pc case (FIRST attempt)

I would like to take some pics of the inside as well, but this was my first attempt at getting my beat up sammy into a small micro pc case.

my bondo work is well questionable to say the least and i really began to lose patience. One of these days i will re sand and re paint the face to clean it up a bit but its there, it works perfectly, lights and 360 power button, and runs MUCH cooler in this thing.

One day maybe ill just paint the whole thing over but my interest began to fade after a bit. I also plan to figure out a way (which i think i have) to make the pc's power button the eject button for the drive.
My entire build is done without soldering connection directly to the 360 main board so that i can easily replace with a new board/drive if i ever have or want to.
