I have been modding Xboxes for a year now. This is my third X3 chip and i've tried every trick I know apart from a hotswop to get it flashed. I am using an X3 chip ive had lying aorund for months. Havent tried hotswopping yet because I dont have another chip to hand at the moment.
I am working on a 1.6 crystal box and the specfics of the problem follow:
The Bios in the main rom banks is wrong because the box frags.
My X3 chip has cromwell 2.6 in the backup (I put it there about 10 months ago, it was the only cromwell that would load to the Box I was using it on at the time.) So Im tryihng to flash the latest and correct 1Mb bios into banks 1-2-3-4.
Ive tried from hard drive and it just says FLASHING FAILED
HALTING. When I try from cd rom it says 1 BIOS UPDATE / BIOS.BIN
followed by ?????OWN FLASH! HALTING! The question marks dont show on the screen but I cannot read the full message because the cromwell flash bios screen is distorted, this box doesnt like the 2.6 flash bios.
Anyway, to cut this story short, flash protection is disbaled both on chip and switch banks. Ive tried to flash it without switch banks connected as ive read in other posts!
I'm thinking its ethier this 2.6 flashbios is not suitable for the x3 chip and/or the 1.6 box ? OR I have a fault on the X3 chip.
Any pointers would be apreciated.
As A note, I got the chip from MR mod chips. Does anybody know why Mrmodchips.com is down at the moment?
