umm ok im trying to ftp with smart ftp chaged both my xbox and pc ip addresses to static ip addresses and still not workin ive turned off the firewall and still not working

if u need more info jus tell me what i need to tell u

Get Qwix, plug the crossover cable in your XBOX and PC before you turn the XBOX on, run Qwix, make sure your IP addresses are correct.

I used to think it was impossible to ftp, untill MartinC showed me how. Respect to MartinC.

ok how do i check if my ip is right ?

ive changed my ip on both my xbox and the pc

xbox:192.168.1.1
pc:192.168.1.101

i did what u said i added a connection and clicked test connection and it said connection succesful
so what do i do know?
im trying to ftp halo2 to add modded maps so how do i get the f drive?

Click "edit" and enter F: in the window of the window that comes up. Then click "CREATE ISO" ftp folder, F drive, Halo2.

ok i get what your sayiing but the problem is when i put in the game halo2 it loads the game and i can no longer ftp

Go to system settings, change "launch game" to NO. Then try again.

and i went to file explorer on my xbox and theres nothing in the f drive

F drive is your HDD, D drive is the DVD Drive, change it to D:.

ok i got to maps and i read a tutorial on how to add modded maps and everything goes fine but when i put in halo2 and got to change map(like when in split screen) the map is not there so i ftp again and check if the map is in the d drive and the map i added is gone
what step am i doing wrong

You need to make a backup of halo 2 to your F drive, then put the replacement maps in the correct folder of your halo2 hdd backup, you can't ftp files to a game dvd, it's not re-writable, especially when it's in the XBOX.

Open a file explorer, copy halo2 to your f drive, you may need an upgraded one for this game 'cos it's big. Then ftp the maps to your f drive, delete the default maps, replace them with your modded maps. Launch halo2 from your f drive.

Do you have the standard 10GB XBOX hdd? I said you might need an upgraded one. So does it boot now? What about when the chip's enabled, does it boot then?

It probably means that your hdd is full. I'll check it out for you.

Wierd. I don't know why it comes up with error2, all you did was copy a game to ur hd. Do you have the X3 chip?

yes i got a standard 10 gb hdd and what do you mean does it boot if your talkin about the modded maps no but could i just dl the necesities like he main menu and not all the other stuff i dont need and not even the default maps just add modded maps? and where could i get a new hdd for my xbox thats less than 100$

no i dont have the x3 chip
and the error code is 996 and when i got to view log file its error code 2

I mean does your XBOX load up as normal, does it work? Or does it just say error2?

If it works, you need an upgraded hdd, try ebay. Then just swap the corresponding maps with your modded maps, keep the rest.
