SAMSUNG MS28 Cannot Get Drive Into Vendor Mode!

Hey All -

I've got an older XBOX phat with a Smasung ms28 drive which I've flashed many time before and had great success with.

When I was prompted for the new dash update about an hour ago, I decided to go ahead with it.

Before applying it, I took the Xbox apart and hooked the drive up to my laptop via X360Pro and CK3 mini.

I loaded up the latest Jungleflasher and went to MTK tab, but accidentally hit "Sammy Unlock" whoops! Now, I can't get the drive to go into Vendor mode at all.

Currently, JungleFlasher detects the drive and shows it's properties (and that it's verified - but key isn't in DB), but that's it.

When I hit "Intro / Device ID", it fails and I get the Yes/No prompt to turn it off and on within 1 second. I do this and wait for a few minutes and eventually get Device Failed. I must have tried this 15 times.

I read that the half-open tray method may work, but when i hit eject on the CK3 mini, the drive doesn't eject. The CK3 is powered via usb if that makes a difference.

UPDATE: Just tried it on a different computer and got same results

Any ideas on what I can do to resolve? Thanks!

Yes, I have - twice - but perhaps I'm missing something. The only thing I see to do is try the half open trick - but - the CK3 Lite's eject button doesn't seem to be working properly.

In your Nand
Fully eject tray power off ck3, then push drive to halfway mark and then power on drive and hit intro......................

Hmm - did that and no go. Perhaps I'm doing something wrong... Here's what I just tried twice...

1. Plugged drive into 360 and ejected tray
2. Pulled drive's power, turned off 360, and removed drive
3. Hooked up to X360USB Pro & CK3 Lite (powered off)
4. Closed tray 1/2 way
5. Open JungleFlasher
6. Powered on CK3 Lite
7. Hit Intro / Device ID

It failed immediatly so clicked Yes to continue, but failed. I'm trying the same thing again now, but refreshing the drive into in JF between steps 6 & 7.

Were those steps correct? THanks

UPDATE to my last post...

I found out that the CK3 Lite requires true molex power to eject the tray. I hooked it up to a power supply and was able to eject the tray. I then did the following similar steps...

1. Ejected tray with CK3 Lite then powered off CK3
2. Closed tray 1/2 way
3. Hooked up 360PRO and CK3 (molex pwr)
4. Opened JF as admin
5. Powered on CK3
6. Clicked Intro / Device ID.

It failed initially so I clicked yes to continue. Still.... failed. What am i doing wrong? THanks!

I got it!!!

I did the half open trick, but clicked Unlock Sammy instead of Device ID. It then went to vendor mode and I'm now flashing. THanks for your replies and help!!

Sammy unlock shouod work regardless of tray status. Remember to follow the tutorial next time
