i had the same problems fitting the QSB so just cut the pin headers of the cables and soldered them in. use solder braid and a sucker to clear the holes tinned up the wires made it so easy from there.

Problem was solved a while ago used direct wires and just practiced before soldering the Jtag portion and it was easy
