I am a bit lost here as to what these banks are, my understanding is that they are basically memory locations so bigger dashboards would need to be loaded into memory banks of larger proportions. Is this correct?

I am running a V1.6 with X3CE and I presently have flashbios V3.0.0, tried to make a disk to flashbios V3.0.2 and it would not load the disk, said Waiting for disk, then ejected and said "Please insert CD - Flashbios Mode" and it never detects the cd or dvd disc I put in.

I have burned the BIOS.BIN file without multisession, joilet 9660 and followed all the how to's to a T. DUMMY.BIN and everything. Whats next? I am having a hard time doing HTTP because the router is in the spare bedroom and I out in the living room. No TV in spare bedroom. Any suggestions?

THank you

First of all, don't flash Flashbios to your chip. It already has it on. Get an X3 bios from xbins. Http flash is much easier, just get a long enough cable. You only need to get the IP addy from X3cl, and then you can just leave your xbox running while you go to your PC and flash it.

X3 3294 v16plus is the bios you need for a 1.6 box.
Unknown flash bios halting is because you have flash protect on.

On the old dip switch panel set switch 5 to off or if u have a Control Panel then set the protect switch to Red.
Also make sure the protect switch on the x3 itself if off too..(u should have a red light on the x3 chip)

i thought the flash protect on the external switch set would override the flash protection switch on the chip itself? No?

because that might be my problem I am not completely sure what the actual chip switch is set too

No it doesn't...if flash protect is on, on the chip then it will not flash.
Once it's set to off on the chip u can control it using the front panel switch
...remember that the x3 is designed to be useable even without the panel switches hence the onboard protect switch.

just make sure u get a red light on the X3 chip to be sure protect is off.

cool...so when you ready to flash..
set switches to off,on,off, off (Banks 5,6,7,8).
And flash your x3 bios to there.
It currently has flashbios3.03 which doesn't work for your version xbox so may as well overwrite it.

U will then have flash bios in Bank 1234 and backup and a working x3 bios on 5678.

this is not working at all! haha I get 3/4 done with the green bar and it freezes.

The tutorial is not very helpful when it comes to troubleshooting...

I guess I will continue to look around.

THanks though it started to go well.

i'm not very confident with bios burnt to disk...there are so many factors..especially media.
Is there no chance u can set it up to flash over the network...would be much easier to add apps and dashboards too so worth the extra effort to set it up.

i have set it up that way at my parents house sorry forgot to mention that...basically if I load the 3294 V1.6plus bin it hangs 3/4's of the way through the green bar...Not sure why it won't take...won't take the 3294 bin either.

try reseating your x3 chip on the header and also try with the switches disconnected.
(remove them at the x3 chip itself)
it will default the flash to the first 1m bank but we can flash the second bank later if that works.
definately use the 16plus version though for your box.
