I hope someone can help me, I have a nintendo switch, older version with 4.1.0 firmware.

Did everything with the dongle, clip, dropped the boot file on the micro sd card that has been formatted to exfat, got my license actived on the website, tried sx OS 2.3 beta and the last stable one, same thing always.

When i boot into sx OS and press to launch custom cfw I get nintendo logo, disappears after 5 sec, black screen for 15 seconds, nintendo logo again for 10 seconds and it launches official firmware with the popup to update my firmware if I want to use my micro sd card, I press to update and nothing happens, asks me again to update, and it's on repeat, won't update, won't get into custom cfw if I double tap the album.

What am I to do now? Please help, I appreciate it.

I did that few times formatted to fatex, dropped boot file 2.0.1 version dropped license. Dat file, inserted in nintendo switch, connected the jig with ON side turned down and pushed down all the way, connected the dongl, pressed and hold volume + pressed once power button, gets me into sx OS, I remove the jig press custom cf and always the same, it doesn't boot into custom firmware, it takes me to normal nintendo OS and asks me to update.

I get this writing :
A system update is required to use the microsDXC memory card

I have an opet to do it later or to update the system now.

If I click to update now it takes me to system update Page, I can click on cancel or update, when I click on update it says preparing to update system...

And returns me back to cancel or update option and in circles again.

I read somewhere that this is happening because I'm on 4.0.1 firmware, thwt I need to manually update to higher firmware, the one that has the feature to read micro sd card?

What am I to do now??? It's getting really frustrating. Thanks all for helping out, I honestly appreciate it.

I formatted to fat32 dropped boot.dat 2.0.1 version and license.dat. When I turn on in official nintendo switch firmware it recognises the micro sd card. When I shut down nintendo switch, hold volume + press power button with jig and dongle inserted I get on the screen red picture of micro sd card and written underneath it boot.dat?

I have no idea what to do or try anymore :(((( nintendo switch OS doesn't recognise exfat and sxos doesn't recognise the fat32 card and that the boot file is there.

Thanks team xecuter, I think your sh!tty software managed to screw up my Nintendo switch, I haven't used any other software then sx OS boot.dat and license.dat and I can't get passed red boot.dat? Whatever format, whatever files, just boot.dat, boot and license, boot and license and nintendo folder. Exfat, fat32, doesn't matter, can't get to sx OS at all anymore, now I'm screwed.

Thank you, I've been reading and reading online and people saying on gbatemp that it's sx OS, hecketa, dongle, a long thread there, that the sd card reader is damaged etc.

Finally I managed with another sd card, have no idea why one moment it wanted to work and next not. Once more thank you for your help, I appreciate it ?

The first mistake you are making is blaming everyone or everything without a little research. I have use TX since day one and compared to any other CFW it is the easiest for people. Don't take this as an attack but you need to read more and whine less. All your questions are all over the internet. I will give you some pointers on switch sd cards and CFW I have learned.
1. Format the sd using the switch in Original firmware and you will never have a problem with the switch reading it. (the reason game systems have a format built in)
2. Expect issues . This is new and more learning happens hourly.
3. Use and learn Emunand. Great way to have 2 environments. One hacked one not. Any issues you can still play owned software.
4. Before making any changes backup everything. I personally keep extra cards for learning new software or processes. That way if you have an issue then go back to known last working state.
5.The (sd update) you mentioned is for exfat. You can update it and many other updates using "darthsternie" (google for link) and ChoiDujourNX both very important to know if you plan on staying on lower firmware.
6. ChoiDujourNX will show a regular and exfat version on most firmware during the process and this is the "sd update". You can use exfat and it will install drivers needed to switch. Don't worry you can still you fat32 either one works this way. Only fat32 works the other way.
7. Just read 99% of questions have been addressed somewhere.
8. If this is all to hard maybe CFW is not for you. CFW can be awesome but always has a few quirks you have to accept.
9. High quality sd cards are worth it. (Sandisk works well for me) Quit trying to get cheap sd cards cause they are bigger(usually fake or crap)
10. I'm sure others will add to this....................................................
I have been using homebrew for decades on nearly every system you could think of and I have found the majority of issues are related to you or me(the user) not being familiar with software or system.
