Okay,
Finally got everything running. I used AID 3.0 to install Unleash X v0.38 as my dash, and a bunch of other apps and MS dash 5960 from the disc. This was all installed onto a brand new 120gig HDD and an XBOX 1.1.

I loaded everything from AID 3.0, loaded into Unleash X and I can see the options for ENABLE 720P, 480P, 1080I but they're non-changeable features. I go into MS DASH from inside Unleash (using the boot to MS dash option) and when I go to Video settings and select WIDESCREEN I dont get the enable options like I did on my 1.4 box (non-modded).

My Xecuter 2.6 is running the 5035 old bios since its pre-1.6. I didn't make any changes to the BIOS. Simply pulled frm XBins and flashed to bank 2 on the chip.

For those who have done this in the past w/ a new drive... what do I need to do to get this working? I have a HIDEF pack I want to get loaded ASAP so I can put this on my 50" DLP.

Its been a VERY long time since I had to enable my HD pack... is there something I need to do out of the box since its a new install?

Your Xbox MUST be set to NTSC as well as using component cables for the HD modes to be available.

You will then see the new options under Video settings.

It is.

Its set to NTSC and using the Monster HD A/V component cable kit.

But when I boot up with the component kit on it wont even show a screen, although I hear the dash startup through my speakers. I've tried both my HD ports to be safe on my DLP set.

The cables worked fine on a non-modded 1.4 box (what I had before I modded this 1.0), but no HD based settings come up in the MS dash (chip on or chip off) and the hacked dash ones wont let me change them.

If you don't get the options with the chip off something else is wrong.

Just Normal, Letterbox, Widescreen ... but no actual "does your tv support 480p yes/no" stuff.

The cable works fine on my 1.4 Xbox (which is what I was using before I modded this 1.0). Plus when I plug it into the port it has sounds in the background, but no video.

Yeah... its weird.

Check the AV points on the motherboard in case there's a short somewhere. If you're switching the unit on from scratch and there's still no component out, then there's something amiss on the motherboard.

Are you leaving the component cables connected to the same TV when testing this? Had you changed anything else on the EEPROM?

Yeah,
I feel really stupid :)

It was connecting enough for sound, and it appeared in there firmly but I guess the rubber on the outside of the component cable's input plug was pushing up against the XBOX enough to make it feel secure, but not be fully in.

Had to push it with quite a bit of force but I felt it sink in right and now it works.

XBMC + 1080i (or 480p/720p) = happy.
