Hi,

Yes I am doing what you are saying. please re-read my post.
I said I used the on/off switch on the probe lead and if fails extraction (I do not switch off the ck3 for this process)

however, I have also tried the process of turning the ck3 off and on instead of using the switch on the probe lead and yes I get the status 0x52 in the log, I get the extract key success dialog box, I then turn off the ck3 once again and wait 5 seconds, turn back on, click OK and this it says phat key extraction failed.
if using the ck3 probe all you have to do is press the button in the release then press ok to the screen pops up and you should have your key. No need to power off.

when I use the button that is on the lead of the probe v3, it turns the light on and off the probe as it should, however when I follow the procedure of using this instead of turning the CK3 on/off, I don't even get the 0x52 status, I just get an instant phat key extraction fail message.

I can only get a 0x52 status if I turn the CK3 on/off instead of using the switch on the probe lead, but even at this stage, still doesnt work.

check the cable then because your cable should be killing the power when pushed fully in thats why you dont power off the ck3 because your cable is doing that job already
well the light goes out on the probe. I am not sure if it is cutting the power completely to the drive, how will I know?

its a power switch on the cable so when pressed where is it killing power to ? "so how will you know" isn't that hard to figure out Polarblade
its killing power to the drive and probe...?

Light goes out in probe....what do I do to check that the drive has no power? Press the eject button the CK3?

the last power off you mean is at the stage when you get the 'extract complete!' message yes?

Then your answer is BEFORE.
yes the drive would not eject as it would have no power right ?

you are going wrong somewhere id have it done in a blink even the a via card ...

PhatKey/click Yes/Push
switch in = probe power OFF/probe MPX01/Release switch = probe power ON/remove probe/
switch in = probe power OFF/count to 5/Release switch = probe power ON/Press OK/Extract Complete

Ok so i can press eject on the ck3 with the probe switch down and nothing should happen as it should have no power. But if it does?...

Anyway i am reading topics by other members who seem to have a similar issue to me.

One guy got his to work after updating the drivers of his x360usb, another guy realised that he wasnt probing the right point (i know i am!), there has to be a simple solution for me.

Just in case it is my ck3 pro at fault, i replaced it with a standard ck3 (older model), still no change.

Anyone any other suggestions?

After clicking the phatkey button, you click Ok and then power cycle and probe, so how fast should this be done? Within 3 seconds?

ok, I have checked the power button the lead of the probe and yes it is cutting power to the drive, it wont eject. Release the button and it will eject.

Also, I have my ck3 connected via usb to my PC, but is the USB box meant to be shaded out?
Nothing is appearing under COM port also, which is expected...?

here is a screenshot:

So is my VIA card ok since I can recognise the drive?

EDIT: ok there is one small thing I forgot to mention.

When I follow the standard procedure in the tutorial, recognise drive in JF, click Phat Key, click OK and then press down on the switch on the lead of the probe to power cycle, I know it is cutting power, but it won't bring up status 0x52. I have the probe on the right point, I know i do.

The dots below status 0x51 just go across the log of JF....literally for 5 or 6 seconds maybe more, then it comes up with Phat Key extraction fails! as usual.

BUT every time I do this method, my drive suddenly becomes undetectable in JF!! is this normal?! I have to turn off the ck3, and restart JF, otherwise it wont recognise it anymore.

here is a screenshot:

Why is this happening to me? :(

EDIT 2: I went to the bother of uinstalling and reinstalling my VIA drivers, and disabling them correctly following a separate tutorial here --> http://team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=54288

Still no difference :(

EDIT 3: Wait! with the ck3 turned on, the drive recognised in JF, should this drive appear under my drives list in my device manager? I have 2 standard dvd drives already in my PC.

You DO know that even if you get the DVD key, your PC will probably freeze the second you try to erase it? It's a known fact that VIA cards and empty SPIs don't play well together.

Before my life was made 100000 times easier with an x360USB Pro, I used a PCMCIA VIA card on my laptop and the only driver to work with probing AND erasing were the uniata drivers. Even then I'd get BSoD every now and then during the probe.
